As of 2/11/21, Summit DD is aware of 184 people we serve being diagnosed with COVID-19. While new cases are not continuing to decline, we are seeing a general plateau of around 4-6 new cases per week.
Prior to the start of vaccine distribution roughly 80% of new cases were occurring within congregate settings. Over the course of the last month the new case makeup has roughly flipped, with most cases occurring in situations where someone is living alone or with family. While the goal is zero cases, we are encouraged by these trends. We are also closely watching to see what the impact on new cases will be now that more than 825 people have received their first dose as part of phase 1b. Since January approximately 70% of eligible individuals who wanted the vaccine have received at least the first dose.
Updated CDC Quarantine Guidance
On Feb. 10, the CDC updated guidelines regarding quarantine for those that have been fully vaccinated and have been exposed to someone who has recently been diagnosed (or is suspected of having COVID-19). Read more from the CDC’s website.
Vaccinated persons with an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria†:
- Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine)
- Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series
- Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure
Persons who do not meet all 3 of the above criteria should continue to follow current quarantine guidance after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
For persons served and staff that received a second dose on February 8th and 9th effective February 22nd and February 23rd Summit DD will no longer be recommending quarantine, assuming no symptoms are present. However, we would ask that you still notify Summit DD (by using the COVID Response email box firstname.lastname@example.org) of the exposure so we can ensure others that may have been in contact with the person are notified and appropriate precautions implemented.
