Event Description
Nisonger Crisis and Prevention Support classes (NCPS) are available for those directly serving individuals with manual restraint restrictive measures and/or those demonstrating harmful behaviors.

The Nisonger Crisis Prevention and Support Training (NCPS) is a crisis intervention program developed by The Ohio State University Nisonger Center and is meant to provide safe, trauma-informed and supportive intervention techniques to consider when faced with crisis situations. Summit DD utilizes a team of certified instructors for the full day class. Once completed, the certification remains active for 2 years. After 2 years, a full day training will be needed for re-certification.
Training outcomes focus on, but are not limited to:
- Enhancing the skills of staff in recognizing the warning signs of agitation
- Implementing effective de-escalation techniques
- Effective personal safety techniques and legal passive physical intervention techniques
- Proper documenting, reporting and crisis debriefing
- Self-awareness in coping with differences and managing conflict
Cancellation Procedure:
