Responsible for installation of plants to ensure success of growth, meet the parks landscaping plan and original design specifications. At least 1-2 years’ experience working in a public garden, zoological park or similar facility is preferred. College degree in horticulture, landscape architecture, botany, or related field preferred. ODA Pesticide license is preferred but not required.

A background of work in landscaping is preferred, but not necessary. Candidates should be able to walk for extended periods, carry or push heavy items (such as wheelbarrows), bend or kneel repeatedly and safely traverse uneven terrain. This position works exclusively outdoors in most weather conditions. On-the-job training is provided.

Prepare client presentations including design drafts, 3D graphic models, and building material options. Utilize AutoCAD to prepare base plans. Work with scheduler, suppliers, and subcontractors to establish building materials related to each job. Review budgets and costs of projects upon completion and analyze profitability. Work with potential and existing clients to offer relevant services and recommendations which includes estimates and design drafts. Prospect new leads during the winter months to establish a reliable schedule for the upcoming development season. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Valid Driver’s License. Graduate of an accredited Landscape Architect Program preferred. Auto CAD and 3D Modeling experience preferred. Portfolio of previous Landscape Design work preferred.

Effectively diagnose, monitor, and treat insect and disease conditions of trees and shrubs. Applying controls including pesticides as needed to maintain plant health. Maintain accurate records and safety protocols for all applications. Maintain and or earn applicator licenses as industry requires. Provide training on safety and plant health to help foster improvements within the organizations. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Degree in Horticulture or related studies. 1-3 years of prior experience working with plants in a greenhouse/nursery environment. Strong plant identification knowledge. Understanding of species-specific insect and disease practices. Ability to perform manual labor and work in all weather conditions and seasons. Commercial Pesticide Applicator License

Must have a valid Ohio Driver License. 18 or over to apply. Maintain a clean and presentable park. Event Assistance: Transports and set up/teardown of event infrastructure, i.e., tables, chairs, tents, etc. With the aid of a variety of gas, diesel, and electric vehicles, ranging from golf carts, UTVs, and skid steer type equipment.  Trained to handle and respond to bio-hazard spills in the park. Plows or shovels snow and applies de-icing to pathways or building entrances. May use snowplows, snow throwers and salt spreaders.
