There have been some changes to the MUI Department. As stated in October 2025, Summit DD had to eliminate 29 positions at the agency in an effort to address rising costs and ensure the agency can continue to deliver essential services to people with developmental disabilities in Summit County.
These changes have also affected the MUI Department with two positions being eliminated.
First, Intake IA John Bacola is no longer with the agency (as of 3/1/26) and his role will not be filled. I thank John for his hard work and dedication to those we serve. Intake IA Shannon Mahoney is still with Summit DD and her role is unchanged. She can be reached to report MUIs via muireports@summitdd.org or by calling 330-634-8684.
Secondly, the position of MUI Manager has also been eliminated, but Matt Klink will still be with the MUI Department in a different capacity. Matt has transitioned to an Investigative Agent role as of 3/1/26 to fill an opening the MUI team had there. As a result, Matt will no longer be taking the lead in training and trend/pattern analysis. If you have training requests or MUI support needs, please reach out directly to me at whershey@summitdd.org. I am thankful for Matt agreeing to stay on in this new role and for continuing to provide his expertise on behalf of those we serve.
Even with these departmental changes, we remain dedicated to assisting providers and other stakeholders with meeting your MUI requirements. Please reach out to me if you need any support with the MUI process. We appreciate your understanding while we adjust to this new operating environment.
