MUI Department Changes

There have been some recent changes within the MUI Department. As shared in October 2025, Summit DD eliminated 29 positions across the agency to address rising costs and ensure we can continue delivering essential services to people with developmental disabilities in Summit County.

These changes have also impacted the MUI Department, resulting in the elimination of two positions.

First, Intake IA John Bacola is no longer with the agency as of March 1, 2026, and his position will not be filled. We thank John for his hard work and dedication to those we serve. Intake IA Shannon Mahoney remains with Summit DD, and her role is unchanged. She can be reached to report MUIs at muireports@summitdd.org or by calling 330-634-8684.

Additionally, the MUI Manager position has been eliminated. Matt Klink will continue with the MUI Department in a new capacity, transitioning to an Investigative Agent role as of March 1, 2026 to fill an existing team need. As a result, Matt will no longer lead training or trend and pattern analysis. For training requests or MUI support, please contact me directly at whershey@summitdd.org.

I appreciate Matt’s willingness to continue serving in this new role and his ongoing commitment to those we support.

Despite these changes, we remain committed to supporting providers and stakeholders in meeting MUI requirements. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance with the MUI process. We appreciate your understanding as we adjust to this new operating environment.
