Summit DD completed the Semi-Annual Analysis for 2024. Find out how this year compares to last.
Every year Summit DD’s MUI team conducts an analysis of the first half year’s MUI stats to review for trends and patterns. This review covers all MUI categories investigated between January and June of each year.
From January-June of 2024, 742 total MUI categories were filed by Summit DD. This puts Summit County on pace for 1,484 total categories for the year. In comparison in 2023, 1,457 total categories were filed that year.
- 38.3%% of all MUIs opened the first half of 2024 were Category A investigations such as Neglect, Abuse, Misappropriation, etc.
- Neglect is the most opened Category A MUI in the first half of the year with 71 occurrences.
- 38 of those Neglects were due to supervision issues and
- 33 were due to failing to provide other supports needed to maintain health and welfare.
- 22.5% were Category B investigations such as Significant Injury, Attempted Suicide, Medical Emergency, etc.
- Significant Injury is the most opened Category B investigation with 54 occurrences. This is on pace for a 38.4% increase as compared to 2023 and the most common cause of Significant Injuries is still due to falls
- Lastly, 39.2% of all categories opened in the first half of 2024 were Category C investigations.
- Unanticipated Hospitalizations made up the most common Category C type with 215 occurrences so far.
